Base: Build Your Strongest Foundation

Where everyone starts, and where the best keep returning.

Where everyone starts, and where the best keeps returning to.

Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the very first time, or looking to refine a practice you’ve cultivated for years, finding stability and form is essential. This is where Base comes in— our foundational yoga class designed to help you ground your movement, align your body, understand the shapes and learn how your body moves within them.

What happens in a Base class?

Base is a slow paced class that focuses on the fundamental posture, alignment, and breathwork of yoga.

Rather than rushing through rapid transitions or complex sequences, Base gives you time to explore each pose thoughtfully. Our teachers break down foundational postures, ensure proper alignment and introduce breath control techniques. It is a supportive and intentional environment designed to make yoga accessible, safe, and empowering.

You’ll work through a series of postures, with enough time in each shape to understand what you're doing and why. You'll understand which muscles are being strengthened and stretched. Longer holds also give you the opportunity to notice how your body responds to the minute adjustments and how you can create more space in your body.

Blocks are used throughout the class to help you find optimal alignment and make the postures work for your body, rather than forcing your body to fit the pose.

What will you work on?

Base lays the groundwork for everything else in your practice.

You’ll develop over the weeks:

  • Strength through sustained holds and foundational postures.
  • Flexibility by gradually exploring your available range of motion.
  • Alignment by understanding how your body is positioned in each pose.
  • Body awareness by learning to recognise what you’re feeling and where.

These might sound simple, but foundational movement is the building block of your practice and something you will always revisit. As your practice develops, the same poses can reveal something completely different.

Who is Base for?

Base is crafted with intentionality to suit everyone, at every stage of their journey:

  • Complete Beginners: If you are completely new to yoga and feel intimidated by the fast-paced flows, Base offers an approachable, gentle entry point where you can learn the terminology, posture names, and proper alignment.
  • Experienced Yogis: Even advanced practitioners periodically return to Base to deepen their understanding of alignment and reconnect with fundamental poses.
  • Anyone Recovering or Rebuilding: If you are coming off an injury, taking a break from high-intensity training, or looking for a steady, low-impact practice, Base provides a safe space to move with control.

Essentially, Base is for everyone.

Base gives you the space to learn the fundamentals without feeling like you need to keep up in a fast-moving class. If you've been practising for a while, Base gives you the opportunity to return to those fundamentals and refine them.

And if you’re working towards more advanced movement, these foundations become even more important in your practice.

You move out, explore other class types and challenge yourself— then return to Base whenever you want to strengthen the fundamentals that support everything else.

How often should I take Base?

Consistency is key when building muscle memory and flexibility.

1-2 times / week:

Ideal if you’re already doing other workouts (e.g. running, Pilates, weightlifting, dynamic flows and more) in your routine and want to work on improving your mobility and recovery.

2-3 times / week

Perfect for newbies who want to establish a routine, build confidence and see noticeable improvements in alignment, balance and flexibility in a few weeks.

Pair Base with other class types such as Flow : Pace or Reset.
